Hi @snw777

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Yes, you can update the Wi-Fi settings for your HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 from your HP Smart app or directly from your computer. Here’s how:

Option 1: Update Wi-Fi via HP Smart App

  1. Open the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device.
  2. Select your printer from the list.
  3. Go to Printer Settings > Advanced Settings.
  4. Navigate to Network Settings and update the Wi-Fi connection.

Option 2: Update Wi-Fi via Printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS)

  1. Find your printer’s IP address (you can check this on the printer’s display or print a network configuration page).
  2. Open a web browser and enter the IP address in the address bar.
  3. Go to Network > Wireless Setup Wizard and update the Wi-Fi details.

Option 3: Use USB Connection to Update Wi-Fi

  1. Connect your printer to your computer via USB cable.
  2. Open HP Smart or HP Printer Assistant.
  3. Navigate to Network Settings and update the Wi-Fi connection.

If a letter is getting stuck when entering the Wi-Fi password, try using a different input method (like a connected keyboard or HP Smart app). You can also check HP’s official support guide here for more details.

Let me know if any of these steps work for you!
