My printing on one particular job exceeded my instant ink supplies so i installed my own cartridges since when the printer hasn't worked. The icon for 'printer not connected to HP instant ink anymore' was lit and although the wi-fi button is lit the fault identified is 'not connected to internet'.

Try these steps:
Ensure that the cartridges you installed are compatible with the HP DeskJet Plus 4120 printer:
- Compatible Cartridges:
- HP 305 Black Original Ink Cartridge
- HP 305 Tri-color Original Ink Cartridge
- HP 305XL High Yield Black Original Ink Cartridge
- HP 305XL High Yield Tri-color Original Ink Cartridge
Reconnect to Wi-Fi
- Ensure the Wi-Fi button on the printer is lit and not blinking.
- Make sure your printer is within range of your Wi-Fi router.
- Ensure there are no obstructions or electronic devices that could interfere with the Wi-Fi signal.
Reconnect Printer to Wi-Fi:
- Reset the Printer’s Network Settings:
- Press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel button for three seconds until the Wireless button starts blinking.
- Use HP Smart App to Reconnect:
- Download and open the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device.
- Click the + sign to add a new printer.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to reconnect your printer to the Wi-Fi network.
- Resolve Instant Ink Notifications:
- Log in to your HP Instant Ink account and check for any notifications or issues that need resolving.
- Update your cartridge details if necessary.
- Restart Printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord.
- Wait for a few minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on.
- Ensure Firmware is Up-to-Date:
- Visit the HP Support website.
- Enter your printer model (HP DeskJet Plus 4120) and check for firmware updates.
- Download and install any available updates.
