Hi @Fradg99,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP 2540 printer is having trouble connecting to your PC and network after your router was replaced, you can follow these steps to resolve the issue:
1. Reconnect the Printer to the New Network
Since your router was replaced, your network settings have changed. You need to reconnect your printer to the new network.
For Wireless Connection:
- Power On the Printer: Make sure the printer is turned on.
- Access Wireless Setup:
- On the printer's control panel, find and select the Wireless or Wi-Fi icon.
- Go to Wireless Settings or Network Setup.
- Choose Wireless Setup Wizard.
- Select Your New Network:
- The printer will search for available networks. Select your new Wi-Fi network from the list.
- Enter the network password when prompted and connect.
- Confirm Connection: The printer should confirm once it’s successfully connected to the new network.
For Wired Connection (USB):
- Check USB Connection:
- Make sure the USB cable is properly connected between the printer and your PC.
- Reinstall Printer Drivers:
- If the USB connection isn’t recognized, you may need to reinstall the printer drivers. Visit the HP support website, download the latest drivers for your printer model, and install them.
2. Check Printer and Computer Settings
Windows:
Add Printer:
- Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
- Click Add a printer or scanner.
- If the printer is not listed, click The printer that I want isn’t listed, and follow the prompts to manually add the printer.
Set Default Printer:
- Once added, ensure the printer is set as the default printer by selecting it and choosing Manage > Set as default.
Mac:
Add Printer:
- Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
- Click the + button to add a new printer.
- Select your printer from the list and follow the prompts.
Check Print Queue:
- Ensure there are no stuck print jobs in the print queue that might be causing issues.
3. Check Printer Status
- Printer Display: Check the printer's display or control panel for any error messages or issues related to network connectivity.
- Network Test: If your printer has a network test feature, run it to check if it’s correctly connected to the network.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
