I don't have my Windows 11 PC setup with WIFI. I connect with my cable company with an ethernet cable and a modem. I have connected my HP 9015e printer that way as well and registered my printer manually online. Everything works fine. However, when I'm at home my android phone lists my printer as an available WIFI device and asks me for a password if I want to connect to it. What password is it looking for, and how is my phone finding my printer if I am connected through an ethernet cable? I have no WIFI password setup as I don't use WIFI in the house and only have a standard cable router? Can you explain how my Phone sees the printer? Is the printer a WIFI Modem on its own?

That is wi-fi direct, it can be used for direct wireless printing from devices to a printer ( no wi-fi router is needed). If you print yourself a network report wi-fi direct password will be there listed.

Sorry, but I'm not that WIFI literate. My cable company told me they would need to set me up for WIFI, and that is why I can't currently buy Alexa. So, I still don't see how if I am not somehow broadcasting a WIFI signal, how my Android knows the printer is there and can connect to it? Are you telling me if I went out a bought Alexa it would connect to the internet Via my printer? Currently I connect to the internet with an ethernet cable and an Arris Touchstone TM1602A modem

Wi-Fi direct establish a wireless connection between the printer and the smart device with no internet.
