Hi @SAMTEX1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If the HP Network Configuration page affirms that your HP OfficeJet 5740 All-in-One printer is connected to the router, but the diagnostic states that it is not connected, there might be a few potential reasons for this discrepancy. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.

  • Ensure that the printer and the router are both powered on and properly connected to each other. Double-check the network cables or wireless connection to make sure they are secure.
  • Restart both your printer and the router. Sometimes, a simple reboot can resolve connectivity issues.
  • Verify that your printer is connected to the correct wireless network. Check the network name (SSID) displayed on the HP Network Configuration page and compare it to the network name your router is broadcasting.
  • Confirm that your router is not blocking the printer's connection. Some routers have settings that restrict or block specific devices from connecting. Check your router's settings and ensure that the printer's MAC address or IP address is not being blocked.
  • Update the firmware on your printer and router. Outdated firmware can sometimes cause connectivity problems. Visit the HP website and your router manufacturer's website to download and install the latest firmware updates for both devices.
  • Reset the printer's network settings. On your printer's control panel, navigate to the network settings or wireless setup menu and look for options to reset network settings. Follow the instructions provided in your printer's manual to perform this reset.
  • If you are using a wireless connection, try connecting the printer to the router using an Ethernet cable instead. This can help identify if the issue is specific to the wireless connection.
  • Temporarily disable any firewall or antivirus software on your computer or network that might be interfering with the printer's connection. Remember to re-enable the security software once you have completed the troubleshooting.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
