Hi @LOBSTZAR,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP Envy 4500 is not connecting wirelessly after a new router, and even wired connections to your MacBook Air no longer work. Let’s go through steps to get your printer back online.

Power cycle printer and router

Turn off the printer and unplug it for 60 seconds.

Restart your new router and ensure Wi-Fi is fully active.

Turn the printer back on.

Reset the printer’s network settings

On the printer, go to Setup → Network Setup → Restore Network Defaults, or press and hold the Wireless button for 10–15 seconds.

This clears old Wi-Fi information from the printer.

Reconnect printer to Wi-Fi

Open HP Smart App on your MacBook Air.

Select Add Printer → Wireless Setup, and follow prompts to connect to your new Wi-Fi network.

Make sure your MacBook Air is on the same network.

Use 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi if your router supports dual-band, as older printers may not connect to 5 GHz.

Check wired connection

If using USB, try a different cable and USB port on your MacBook.

Open HP Smart or System Preferences → Printers & Scanners, remove the old printer, and add it again.

Update printer drivers

Download the latest driver for HP Envy 4500 from HP Support.

Install the driver before attempting wireless or USB connections.

Test connectivity

Print a network configuration page from the printer to verify it shows the correct Wi-Fi SSID.

Once connected, the wireless light should be solid.

Print a test page from the MacBook Air.

Tip: New routers sometimes assign new network settings that older printers don’t recognize. Resetting the printer’s network and using HP Smart usually resolves this.

I hope this helps.
