Hi @pickpop,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
I understand how frustrating it can be when your printer stops connecting after a new router installation. Let’s go through some questions and steps to get your Deskjet 3050 connected to your Wi-Fi network again.
- When you try to reconnect the printer, are you entering the new Wi-Fi network password exactly as it appears (paying attention to capitalization and special characters)?
- Is the new router configured with WPA2 security, and does it support both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands? The Deskjet 3050 typically connects only to 2.4GHz networks.
- Have you tried printing a network configuration report from the printer to check the connection status and signal strength?
Re-enter the Wi-Fi Network Password on the Printer:
On the Deskjet 3050, go to the Wireless Setup Wizard (usually found in the printer’s control panel under Settings > Network). Select your Wi-Fi network and carefully re-enter the network’s WPA passphrase/password, ensuring there are no errors.
Restart the Router and Printer:
Turn off both your new router and printer, then turn them back on. Wait for the router to fully restart before powering up the printer. This can help the printer reconnect to the network.
Verify Network Band Compatibility:
Log in to your router’s settings (using an IP address such as 192.168.1.1 in a browser) and confirm that the 2.4GHz band is enabled. If your router uses both 2.4GHz and 5GHz, ensure the printer connects to the 2.4GHz band, as the Deskjet 3050 may not support 5GHz.
Reset the Printer’s Network Settings:
If re-entering the password doesn’t work, try resetting the printer’s network settings. In the Settings > Network section, select the option to Restore Network Defaults. Then go through the Wireless Setup Wizard again to reconnect to your Wi-Fi network.
Temporarily Disable WPA Security (as a Test):
As a last resort, temporarily disable WPA security on your router to see if the printer connects without it. If it connects, re-enable WPA and try a simpler password, as some older printers have trouble with complex passphrases.
Let me know if any of these steps get you closer to a solution!
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
