My hp smart tank plus 651 printer is picking up 2 of the exact same wireless networks (I only have one named this). My other printer is not picking up two.  I log into both successfully but neither one works.  I want to try to delete one but don't know how.  I cannot print.   Why would it pick up two of the same name routers.  How would I delete one or both?  I took my router into the provider and it shows only one name for the network.

Hi @bomoms,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I understand how confusing and frustrating it must be to see duplicate networks on your printer, especially when it's preventing you from printing. Let’s work through this issue together and find a solution.

  • Have you recently changed any settings on your router, such as renaming the network or adding an extender/mesh system?
  • When you connect your other devices (e.g., phone, laptop) to the Wi-Fi, do they also show multiple instances of the same network?
  • Have you tried restarting both your printer and router to see if the duplicate network disappears?

Meanwhile, follow the steps below.

Forget All Wireless Networks on the Printer:

  • On the printer control panel, go to Setup > Network Setup > Restore Network Defaults, then reconnect the printer to the correct network.

Manually Reconnect the Printer:

  • Use the HP Smart app on your Mac to manually set up Wi-Fi and ensure you're selecting the correct network.

Check for Extenders or Dual-Band Networks:

  • Your router may be broadcasting both 2.4GHz and 5GHz under the same name. Log into your router’s settings and check if separate network names (SSIDs) can be used.

Remove Printer from HP Smart and Re-add:

  • Open HP Smart, remove the printer from the app, and then add it again by following the setup instructions to connect to the correct network.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Check the HP website for any firmware updates for your printer model that might resolve Wi-Fi connectivity issues.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
