Hi community! 👋
So I've recently purchased a Deskjet 2710 and got it set up without major trouble. However, when I tried to register for Instant Ink, I was prompted to activate Web Services on the printer - and that's where my problems began.
When I connect to the EWS and click on Web Services -> Setup, it says,
Web Services Setup in Progress
The printer is currently setting up Web Services.
To see the current status of this process, click "Refresh".
When I click "Refresh", it says,
Network Problem
A network problem occurred while the printer was trying to connect to the Web Services server.
Click "Troubleshoot" to diagnose the problem, or click "Close" and fix the problem later.
And finally, clicking on "Troubleshoot", it says,
The printer could not connect to Web Services.
Web Services might be busy or temporarily unavailable. Try again later.
I've tried since saturday and I can't get it to work. I've roamed forums and tried every bit of a hint I could scavenge, I even called HP support today which, after half an hour of resetting the network connection on the printer, told me to approach the vendor of my router since they suspect it's got to do with the connection. So I set up the printer on my AVM Fritz!Box 7490 to allow TCP ports 5222, 5223 and 443 (and even set it to 'Exposed Host' for a few moments just to make sure), but to no avail. There's no proxy used in my home network which runs on 2.4 and 5 GHz with the same SSID, but the printer is set to only use 2.4 GHz because it won't connect to my wifi otherwise. I've turned off Bluetooth and Bonjour on the printer and tried using a fixed IP address.
I've reset the printer and the router multiple times. I don't have a USB cable connected. The EWS tells me the printer's firmware is TCP1FN2102DR and can't find a newer one.
I've also tried using Print & Scan Doctor 5.6, and when I try to open the Web Services menu, I get a 'wrong password' error (user ID is 'admin', which can't be changed, and neither the printer PIN nor the password I set myself will work). The tool won't find any other noteworthy problems.
I'm at my wits' end and I'm sure I'm missing something pretty obvious since this doesn't seem to be a widespread problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated! 🙂

Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Assign a Manual IP address to the printer
• Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to obtain the IP address.
• Type the IP address at the top of your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
• Go to "Network" tab - General - Select "Network protocols" - Select "Enable IPv4 only" (or similar) - Apply the settings.
• Go to Network Setup > Ethernet/Wireless Settings > Advanced Settings > IP Settings > Select Manual IP
• You would be asked to enter the IP address, default gateway, Subnet Mask, Preferred and Alternate DNS
• For the IP address, say if your printer IP address is 192.168.0.3, try assigning a different IP address that is slightly in a different rage like 192.168.0.88
• Enter the default gateway and Subnet Mask values obtained from the network configuration page
• For the Preferred DNS use 8.8.8.8 and alternate DNS as 8.8.8.4
• Touch OK and save changes
Let me know if this helps.
