I understand you are getting an error code -9 in the HP Smart app typically indicates a connection issue during the setup process, particularly when the app is trying to connect the printer to the internet. This error can arise for several reasons, including:
Incorrect WiFi credentials: Ensure that you are entering the correct WiFi network name (SSID) and password. Double-check for any special characters or capitalization in the password.
2.4 GHz WiFi Band: The HP DeskJet 2752 supports only 2.4 GHz networks, not 5 GHz. Verify that your router is broadcasting a 2.4 GHz network, and your printer is trying to connect to that.
Printer's WiFi Direct: If WiFi Direct is enabled on the printer, it might interfere with the regular WiFi setup. Make sure to disable WiFi Direct during the setup.
Network Firewall/Security Settings: Certain router settings, such as firewalls or MAC address filtering, can prevent the printer from connecting to the network. Temporarily disabling these settings or adjusting them may resolve the issue.
Distance from Router: If the printer is too far from the router, the signal strength may be too weak to connect properly. Move the printer closer to the router during setup.
Troubleshooting Steps:
- Restart the printer, router, and your device.
- Reset the printer’s network settings (hold the WiFi and Cancel buttons on the printer until the Power button starts flashing).
- Retry the setup with HP Smart, ensuring you're using the correct WiFi credentials.
