Hi @Will1945

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for sharing the issue — I understand how frustrating it is when you're suddenly unable to print due to a “Printer could not connect to Web Services” error. This can happen even if everything else seems connected properly. Let's work through some reliable steps to fix it.

Step-by-Step Fix for “Printer Could Not Connect to Web Services”

1. Restart All Devices

  • Power off your printer, router, and PC.
  • Wait 30 seconds, then restart the router first, followed by the printer and PC.
  • This resets the network handshake and often resolves temporary glitches.

2. Check Internet Connection

  • Ensure your printer is connected to Wi-Fi—not USB.
  • Confirm the printer and PC are on the same network band (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz).
  • Avoid guest networks or VPNs.

3. Enable Web Services via Embedded Web Server (EWS)

  • Print a Network Configuration Page from the printer’s control panel.
  • Find the printer’s IP address (e.g., 192.168.1.5).
  • Enter it into your browser to open the Embedded Web Server.
  • Go to Web Services tab and click Enable Web Services.

4. Update Printer Firmware

  • Visit HP’s support site.
  • Enter your printer model and download the latest firmware update.
  • Install it via USB or HP Smart app (if available).

5. Check Proxy Settings

  • In the EWS, go to Web Services > Proxy Settings.
  • If your network uses a proxy, enter the correct details.
  • If unsure, leave proxy settings blank.

6. Factory Reset the Printer (Last Resort)

  • On the printer control panel:
    • Go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Restore > Restore Factory Defaults
  • Reconnect to Wi-Fi and re-enable Web Services.

If the issue persists, HP may need to re-register your printer or reset its Web Services profile.

Would you like help accessing your printer’s EWS or checking for firmware updates?
