When connecting my laptop to my printer it is asking for a network security key. I have printed numerous times from this laptop and it has never required this. Where is the network security key found?

HI @cgodby04,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The network security key is essentially the Wi-Fi password for the network to which your printer and laptop are connected. Here’s how you can find it:
Steps to Find the Network Security Key (Wi-Fi Password)
1. On Your Router
Check the Router Label:
- Most routers have a label on the back or bottom that lists the default network name (SSID) and the default network security key (Wi-Fi password).
- Look for terms like "WPA key," "WPA2 key," "Wireless key," "Wireless password," or similar.
Router's Web Interface:
- Open a web browser on a device connected to the network.
- Enter the router's IP address in the address bar (common IP addresses are 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1).
- Log in to the router’s web interface using the admin username and password. If you haven’t changed these, the default values are often "admin" for both username and password.
- Navigate to the wireless settings section to find the Wi-Fi password.
2. On Windows Laptop
Network Settings:
- Click on the Wi-Fi icon in the system tray and select Network & Internet settings.
- Go to Wi-Fi > Manage known networks.
- Select your Wi-Fi network and click on Properties.
- Click on Show password to reveal the network security key.
Command Prompt:
- Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
- Type the following command and press Enter:
- Look for the "Key Content" line in the results. This is your Wi-Fi password.
3. On macOS
- Keychain Access:
- Open Keychain Access from the Utilities folder.
- Search for your Wi-Fi network name (SSID) in the search bar.
- Double-click on the network name to open its properties.
- Check the box next to Show password and enter your Mac's administrator password when prompted.
- The Wi-Fi password will be displayed.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
