I need to setup my wifi feature in my office - I have a Wifi modem running. no funny additional setups on my router - my lapyop connect to the wifi, my phone, normal usage. The printer has a wifi feature that id like to use however, for me to do so, i need to sign-in to the " Device Administrator" or the "Printer User" profile to continue the setup - I dont know where to find these sign in details (passwords and correct username). - The Username I used to set-up my HP Smart account does not work on the printer in either of these two profiles... how can i resolve this?

**I have installed the HP SMart APP on both my phone and Laptop, and still i am unable to "locate my device" to add it to my printer options - I removed this printer from the box and installed ran it for the first time.

Please help.

Hi @Matimba123,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To set up the Wi-Fi feature on your HP printer, follow these steps.

  • Check Printer Documentation: Refer to the printer's user manual or documentation that came with the printer. It often contains information on initial setup, including default usernames and passwords.
  • Default Credentials: Try using default credentials for your HP printer. Common usernames might include "admin" or "administrator," and passwords may be found in the user manual.
  • Access HP Smart Account: Ensure that you are using the correct HP Smart account. The username and password used for the HP Smart account might not necessarily be the same as those needed for the printer. Double-check and try the credentials associated with your HP Smart account.
  • Reset Printer Password: If you are unable to find the correct credentials, you may need to reset the printer to its factory settings. This usually involves pressing a reset button on the printer. Refer to the user manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.
  • Connect via USB: As an alternative, you can connect your printer to your computer using a USB cable. This may allow you to configure the Wi-Fi settings through the HP Smart app without needing to sign in on the printer.

Remember to ensure that your Wi-Fi network is functioning correctly and that the printer is within range.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
