We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

When I attempt to print from my iPhone, it constantly does not recognize the printer, because the IP address on the printer has been dropped. I have to unplug, then re-plug the printer and it will work fine for a while. I just replaced my basic HP 8020 printer with a newer OfficeJet pro 9135.

Hi @Cloudy47,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

It sounds really frustrating to deal with connectivity issues between your iPhone and the new OfficeJet Pro 9135 printer, especially having to unplug and re-plug the printer frequently. I can understand how inconvenient this can be, especially when you just upgraded your printer.

To help troubleshoot the problem, here are a few questions to clarify the situation:

  1. Have you checked if your printer and iPhone are connected to the same Wi-Fi network? Sometimes, devices can accidentally connect to different networks.
  2. Are there any other devices (like laptops or tablets) experiencing similar connectivity issues with the printer, or is it just your iPhone?
  3. Have you tried using the HP Smart app to see if it recognizes the printer when the issue occurs, and does it show any error messages?

Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Restart Your Network Equipment: Power cycle your Wi-Fi router by unplugging it for about 30 seconds, then plugging it back in. This can help refresh the connection for all devices, including your printer.

Update Printer Firmware: Ensure your printer’s firmware is up to date. You can do this through the printer’s control panel or the HP Smart app. Keeping the firmware current can fix bugs and improve connectivity. Or click here and select your current OS.

Set a Static IP Address: If the IP address on your printer keeps changing, consider setting a static IP address. You can do this in the printer’s network settings under Setup > Network Setup > IP Settings and choose “Manual” to assign a fixed IP address.

Forget and Reconnect the Printer on iPhone: On your iPhone, go to Settings > Wi-Fi, find your printer in the list of devices, tap the “i” icon, and choose “Forget This Network.” Then reconnect to the printer using the HP Smart app.

Check for Network Interference: Ensure that there are no devices causing interference with the Wi-Fi signal, such as microwaves or Bluetooth devices. If possible, place the printer closer to the router to improve the connection.
