Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

I am trying to reconnect my printer to a new WiFi network. The app cannot seem to find the printer on my phone, it brings me to a screen that says go to WiFi in settings and select the “HP Smart DeskJet” network, and then come back to the app. I select the network, it asks me for a password that I do not know, and then I come back to the app and nothing changes.

Try these steps:

Restore Wi-Fi Setup Mode

Firstly, you will need to restore the printer to Wi-Fi setup mode:

Printers with Touchscreen Control Panel:

  • On the printer control panel, open the Wireless or Setup menu, select Network Setup or Settings, and then select Restore Network Settings.

Printers without Touchscreen Control Panel:

  • For HP Deskjet 6000 and 6400, ENVY 6000 and 6400, and Tango printers, press and hold the Wi-Fi button and the Power button on the back of the printer for five seconds until the blue bar flashes.
  • For other printers, follow this link for specific instructions.

Set Up Using the HP Smart App

Ensure that your mobile device is connected to the same Wi-Fi network that you want the printer to join.

Open the HP Smart app on your mobile device. If you haven’t installed it yet, download it from the App Store or Google Play.

In the HP Smart app, tap on Set Up a New Printer or Add Printer. Follow the prompts to start the setup process.

When the app asks you to select the “HP Smart DeskJet” network in your Wi-Fi settings:

  • Go to your device’s Wi-Fi settings.
  • Select the “HP Smart DeskJet-xxx” network. The default password is typically your printer's PIN, which is found on a label in the printer’s cartridge access area or user manual.
  • Enter the password if prompted.
  • Return to the HP Smart app to complete the setup.
