Hi guys,

I try to connect my new HP Smart Tank 7305 with my wifi. I use the HP Smart app and I can find the printer with the network. After selecting the printer I have to enter the wifi network and the password. Everytime I enter the correct details I get the message the password is false, but it is the one used at all devices.

I checked already the following:

- Network is a 2.4 GHz

- restarted the App and the printer several times

- tried to connect to the printer via wifi, but cannot connect with the IP given in the HP helpdesk

 

Did someone else had the same issues?

 

I also connect the printer to my network via LAN and I can print, but after some time (with connected LAN) the printer cannot be found in the network from my devices.

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

 

Check the Password

Type your Wi-Fi password in a notes app first to make sure there’s no extra space or strange character.

Then copy and paste it into the HP Smart app.

 

Change Router Security

Log in to your Wi-Fi router settings.

Make sure the Wi-Fi security is set to WPA2 or WPA2/WPA3 mixed, not WPA3 only.

 

Reset Printer’s Network Settings

Press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons on the printer for 5 seconds.

The printer will reset its network. Try again with the HP Smart app.

 

Use LAN to Set Up Wi-Fi

Keep the printer connected with a LAN cable.

Open a browser and type the printer’s IP address (you can print it using the Info button (i)).

Go to Wireless Setup and connect it to Wi-Fi from there.

 

Split 2.4GHz and 5GHz

If your Wi-Fi has one name for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz, go to your router settings and give them different names.

Connect the printer to the 2.4GHz one.

 

Keep Printer from Disappearing

In your router settings, set a static IP for the printer so it doesn’t change.

Also turn off IPv6 on the printer from the web setup page (optional but can help).
