One day my printer decided to forget my WiFi network and now I can’t get it to rejoin. The light indicating network connection is off. On the touchscreen top menu there is no tab for WiFi. In network setup it just complains that there is no Ethernet cable connected (there has never been an Ethernet cable connected). In the HP Smart app for Windows there’s no option to connect to WiFi. In iOS when trying to setup a new printer it tells me to look for the HP-Setup WiFi network, but that isn’t listed in networks that I can see.

I’ve tried resetting network settings and doing a factory restore and still the option to connect to a WiFi network is not available to me. I’ve plugged my printer into my computer via USB and checked the firmware (it’s up to date). Anybody have any suggestions on how to get my printer to give me the option to connect to WiFi?

Support had me do a semi-full restore, which involves pressing the back button 4 times even though it’s not lit up. That opens the hidden menu and all the glories therein.

@Hi74

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are unable to connect the printer to your wireless network.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I recommend you run the HP printer and scan doctor and it will automatically find and fix connectivity issues.

Download HP Print and Scan Doctor and run the program.

Thanks for the reply! I downloaded the print and scan doctor and connected my printer to my computer via usb. The first time I ran P&SD it tried to connect the printer to my wireless network, but it couldn’t see my network. My computer is connected to the network via Ethernet, not WiFi. I tried restarting the P&SD to see if there was another option. This time, it told me to restore factory defaults, which I did, then claimed everything was fine and didn’t try anything else.

If my computer needs to be connected to my network via WiFi to pass those settings on to the printer, I’m building a new PC in about a week that will have WiFi.

The printer itself doesn’t show a tab for WiFi, though. It’s like it doesn’t recognize that it has WiFi. However, if I go to the Printer Settings tab of HP Smart and click on Network Information is lists Wireless as being “On” and Not Connected.

Have you tried connecting the printer using a USB cable?

Yes. I ran the print and scan doctor while the printer was connected to my computer via usb. All print and scan functions seem to be available on my computer while connected, but I would prefer to connect via WiFi. Also, I would like to be able to print from my iPhone and iPad, which, I believe, requires a WiFi connection.

I followed the steps, but when I get to Wireless Network Setup, my wireless network isn’t listed. In fact, none of the wireless networks near me are listed. Again, I don’t have WiFi on this computer, it’s connected to my network via Ethernet. If I need WiFi on the computer to which the printer is connected via usb, I’m going to be building a new pc next week that will have WiFi.

I also tried manually entering the SSID, but it says that my network can’t be found.
