I have a HP Envy 5010 printer, my router is is a Deco mesh W4500 system, and printer doesn’t see the network. What is the WiFi range on the printer? If I disconnect it and set it up closer to one of the mesh relays, and move it back to my office, will it keep the network connected?

Hi @SteveM029,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The HP Envy 5010 printer typically has a standard WiFi range, which is usually adequate for most home networks, but it can be limited by obstacles, distance, and interference. It's generally designed to work within the typical range of a home WiFi network, which should be around 30-50 feet indoors without obstructions.
If you're having trouble with the printer detecting your network, you can indeed try setting it up closer to one of your mesh system’s relays. Mesh networks like your Deco system are designed to extend coverage and improve connectivity, so if the printer connects when it's close to a relay, it should be able to maintain that connection once it's moved back to your office, provided the signal strength in that area is still adequate.
Here are a few additional tips to ensure a stable connection.
- Check Signal Strength: Ensure that the signal strength in your office is sufficient. You can check this by moving a device to that location and testing the connection.
- Update Firmware: Make sure both your printer and your Deco mesh system have the latest firmware updates installed.
- Reduce Interference: Minimize potential sources of interference between the printer and the mesh relay, such as large metal objects or thick walls.
If the printer still struggles with maintaining the connection, consider adjusting the placement of your mesh relays or potentially adding another relay to improve coverage in your office area.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
