I have an older HP8610 printer. I changed my wifi network to a new cellular 5G service from ATT.
I cannot get the wifi set up on the printer. I am wondering if the HP8610 cannot be set up with a cellular 5G wifi network?

Hi @Sk1061,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand the HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One Printer should be able to connect to most Wi-Fi networks, including newer 5G home networks. However, cellular 5G networks, like the one you switched to with AT&T, may cause issues, particularly if the router is using a 5GHz band only. The Officejet Pro 8610 supports only the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi band, not 5GHz.
Here are some steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:
1. Check Router Settings (2.4GHz Band)
- Ensure your AT&T router is broadcasting both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks. Some newer routers default to only 5GHz.
- You can usually manage this by logging into the router’s admin settings (check the router's manual or contact AT&T for guidance).
- If both bands are active, ensure that your printer is trying to connect to the 2.4GHz network.
2. Use HP Wireless Setup Wizard
- On the printer control panel, navigate to Setup > Network Setup > Wireless Settings.
- Run the Wireless Setup Wizard, and make sure to select the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network (your new network’s name should appear in the list).
3. Reboot Devices
- Restart both the printer and the new 5G router to reset connections.
- Power off the printer, unplug it for 30 seconds, then plug it back in and power it on.
- Restart the router and wait until it fully boots up before attempting to reconnect.
4. Manual IP Address Configuration
- If the connection still fails, manually assign an IP address to the printer.
- From the printer’s control panel, go to Setup > Network Setup > Wireless Settings > Advanced Settings.
- Select IP Settings and assign a static IP within the range of your router.
5. Wi-Fi Direct
- If all else fails, you could use Wi-Fi Direct to print without going through the network. The printer can create a direct Wi-Fi connection to your devices.
