Hi @Diepe745,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When setting up your HP ENVY 4526 All-In-One Printer to work with your Netgear AC1750 dual-range WiFi mesh extender, you may encounter connectivity issues due to differences in how dual-band networks handle devices. Here are a few steps to help you troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

Check the Network Bands:

  • Ensure that your Netgear AC1750 extender is configured to extend both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. Printers often connect more reliably to the 2.4 GHz band due to its longer range and better penetration through walls.

Use Separate SSIDs:

  • If your extender is broadcasting separate SSIDs for the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, try connecting your printer to the 2.4 GHz SSID. Sometimes, devices have trouble switching between bands automatically.

Extender Placement:

  • Place the extender midway between your modem (on the 1st floor) and the printer (on the 2nd floor) to ensure a strong signal. Avoid placing it too far from either device.

Reconfigure Printer Connection:

  • On your printer, go to the Wi-Fi settings and forget any previously connected networks. Then, reconnect to the 2.4 GHz network from the extender.
  • Use the WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) feature if your extender and printer support it. Press the WPS button on the extender and then on the printer to connect automatically.

Static IP Address:

  • Assign a static IP address to your printer to prevent it from changing and causing connection issues. This can usually be done through the extender’s or router's admin settings.

Update Firmware:

  • Ensure both your printer and extender have the latest firmware updates installed. This can fix bugs and improve connectivity.

HP Smart App Configuration:

  • Make sure the HP Smart app is configured to connect to the same 2.4 GHz network as your printer. If your phone or device running the app is connected to the 5 GHz network, it may not communicate properly with the printer on the 2.4 GHz network.

Network Reset:

  • As a last resort, reset your network settings on both the printer and extender, and set them up again from scratch.

Step-by-Step Reconnection Guide:

Reset Printer Network Settings:

  • On your printer, go to the Network menu and select Restore Network Settings.

Reconnect Printer to Wi-Fi:

  • Use the printer’s control panel to navigate to the Wi-Fi setup wizard and follow the instructions to connect to the 2.4 GHz network from your extender.

Verify Connection:

  • Once connected, print a Network Configuration Page from your printer to confirm it is connected to the correct network and note the IP address assigned to the printer.

Configure HP Smart:

  • Ensure your device running the HP Smart app is connected to the same 2.4 GHz network.
  • Open the HP Smart app, and follow the prompts to add your printer using the IP address from the Network Configuration Page if it doesn’t automatically detect the printer.

Following these steps should help you resolve the connectivity issue and enable your printer to work seamlessly with your Wi-Fi mesh extender.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
