Hi @Rod302,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your HP ENVY 5530 printer is having trouble reconnecting to your Wi-Fi network after a router change, which can sometimes occur due to configuration differences or network settings.
Here's a step-by-step guide to try and resolve the issue:
1. Restart Printer, Router, and Computer
- Turn off the printer, unplug the router, and restart your computer.
- Wait for 1-2 minutes, then plug in the router and let it fully boot up.
- Turn on your printer and computer again.
2. Reset Printer Network Settings
You can reset the printer's network settings to ensure no conflicting configurations.
- On the printer's control panel, tap the wireless icon.
- Go to Settings and then Restore Network Settings.
- Confirm the reset.
3. Reconnect Printer to Wi-Fi
After resetting, try reconnecting the printer to the new Wi-Fi network:
- On the printer's control panel, press the Wireless icon, then go to Wireless Setup Wizard.
- Select your Wi-Fi network from the list and enter your new Wi-Fi password carefully.
- Ensure the password is typed correctly, including capitalization and special characters.
4. Check Router Settings
Make sure your router is set to the correct settings:
- 2.4 GHz network: Many HP printers, including the ENVY 5530, connect only to a 2.4 GHz network, not 5 GHz. Ensure that your router is broadcasting a 2.4 GHz network.
- Security settings: Ensure your Wi-Fi uses WPA or WPA2 security, as some HP printers may not support WPA3.
5. Update Printer Firmware (Optional)Update the firmware on an HP printer
If you're able to temporarily connect the printer via USB to your computer, check if there's any firmware update available:
- Install the HP Printer Firmware Update Utility for your model.
6. Reinstall the Printer on the Computer
If the printer connects to Wi-Fi but isn’t detected by your computer:
- Open the HP Smart app or Windows Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners and remove the printer.
- Click Add a Printer and allow it to search for your HP ENVY 5530.
Refer to this document: HP ENVY 5530 e-All-in-One Printer series User manual
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
