Welcome to the HP Community --
We are a Peer-to-Peer Forum for people who use HP Technology.
I am surprised HP Smart works at all -- the printer is not supported in Windows 11.
At least in Windows 10, the Windows Built-in Print Driver might be installed.
Reference: Software and drivers for HP Photosmart e-All-in-One Printer - D110a
Selected Operating System = Windows
Version = Windows 11
No, "Easy Smart" won't configure your printer.
If you are referring to the "Easy Start" software, it works on a supported version of Windows for a supported printer, and does require an Internet connection to find and install (supported) printer software.
The printer no longer supports Web Services (Internet connection).
There is no printer software available for Windows 11 and this printer.
Reference: Home Page - HP Easy Start
If the printer works at all, then use what is working.

Old driver is Gone
We see occasional questions about older printers for which the software installation packages cannot be found for current or past versions of Windows.
The software for this printer is no longer listed as available from HP.
When available for the printer and a supported version of Windows, install the Windows print drivers.

Scan? See Section FAQ > How do I use the printer functions with the built-in driver?
Scan your documents and photos:
Complete your scan jobs with a Windows app that works with the built-in driver.
Examples
Windows Fax and Scan: In Windows, search for and open Windows Fax and Scan. Click New Scan, and then select your printer.
Windows Paint: In Windows, search for and open Paint. Click FileFrom scanner or camera.
Windows Scan app: In Windows, search for and open the Windows Scan app. If it is not listed, go to Windows Scan (in English) to install it.

wow!!! I didn't expect an essay... it's what I sort of figured incompatible older drivers... at least everything works with Windows default drivers and wired. I still have my originals drivers and full software for the printer, but basically it won't connect wirelessly... guess it's time for a new printer as the HP Photosmart e-All-in-One Printer - D110a is at least 9-10 years old and never had a problem... I just wish HP still made printers in black as I think white gets dirty too fast.
Thanks

You are welcome.
Just your luck -- Dragon does tend to wordiness on occasion - OK, most of the time...
For every question there are many readers -- perhaps the verbiage is useful that context.
I do agree - life will be easier with a newer printer.
Do read, compare, and then compare features again -- The lower end printers are less expensive for a reason.
Start with the top of the line -- read what the "best" can do and then move down to your budge line and what you can live without.
Good Luck.

I don't need a $200 plus printer for occasional printing, scanning or copying at home... I'm not a heavy user... as long as it prints, scans and copies and wirelessly (so I don't have cables on my desk)... I'm happy... I think I paid somewhere around $50 for the photosmart... I got good use out of it

??
I have no idea.
Black plastic is harder to recycle, black plastic is more expensive, shows dirt, people don't like it??
"Must be black"
Throw a cover over the printer -- like a toaster cover -- no more dirty printer.
Just checked ...
Amazon and other merchants sell "duster" covers for printers...
