HP ENVY 6032e All-in-One Printer

I have spent hours and hours trying to get me new printer to operate as a printer.

I have gone round in circles with the HP Quick Start assistant and stuff that the printer itself prints as status.

I have even connected a USB cable but no joy.

I don't want to upgrade from W7 because you can bet something else will go wrong and I'll have more than one issue to deal with.

There is nothing wrong with my router.

The previous printer (HP all-in-one 5000 series), worked fine but kept jamming.

I am desperate for a solution that I can understand as a 75 year old non-tech person.

I have found the answer after many further hours: the Devices pane still had the old printer in it, so I uninstalled it, leaving just the new printer. Selected that from a drop-down, and - taraaah! No further issues. Now, why was there no reference anywhere in all the support material, online or printed, that would alert a user to this possibility and save HOURS of fruitless attempts at resetting, reconfiguring etc. etc.

HP please note!
