Try the link from your notebook's support page.

It is recommended to use Microsoft Edge to access the HP support pages.

You can download it from the link below, since you can connect via ethernet for now.

Hi:

W7 is no longer in support but everything should still work.

There can be one of several different Wi-Fi adapters HP could have installed in your notebook.

Go to the device manager.

If the wifi adapter is missing a driver, there will be a device listed under an 'Other devices' category labeled as a Network Controller.

If you see such a device, please post the hardware ID for it so I can figure out what driver it needs.

Use this guide for how to find the hardware ID for a device.

You're very welcome.

You need this Wi-Fi driver for the hardware ID you posted:

Anytime.

Glad to have been of assistance.

How about giving the free upgrade to W10 a try?

Here's how to do that...

Make a bootable W10 USB installation drive with the media creation tool.

Download Windows 10 (microsoft.com)

After the media has been created, do not boot from the media.

Open the flash drive in Windows explorer and double-click on the setup application you see in the list of files to begin the upgrade process.

You can go back to W7 within 10 days if things don't work right as long as you don't delete any of the upgrade files or the Windows.old folder.
