I just got a new modem and when I go to setup my wireless printer it will not accept my password. I tried setting it up using WPS but apparently that doesn't work on my modem.

This happened to me once before, but tech support was able to fix it easily.

This printer has always worked flawlessly otherwise.

Would it have something to do with "Bonjour" connection type?

@bobcat63, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand you are trying to connect the printer to the wireless network.

  • Make sure the printer and the Mac are connected to the same wireless network. Either 2.4 or 5GHz network.
  • If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both networks.

On the printer screen, go to Setup > Network Setup > Restore network settings

Go back to Network > Wireless > Wireless setup wizard and select your network.

You may use the guided troubleshooter Troubleshooting | Wireless Printing Center for instruction to isolate and resolve the issue.

Bonjour locates devices such as printers, other computers, and the services that those devices offer on a local network using multicast Domain Name System (mDNS) service records. The software comes built-in with Apple's macOS and iOS operating systems.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi,

I have checked what you suggested and gone through all the troubleshooting instructions. Still no luck. 😞

I am sure there is something so simple missing.

When I print out the "Wireless Network Test Results", it shows "Fail" under >Settings -No Filtering

I have checked to be sure that filtering is turned off.

What can I do from here? I'm getting desperate.

Password is case-sensitive. Make sure you are using the new password.

Check if you are able to connect other devices to the network using this password.

Did you contact your Internet service provider and check about the issue?

Alternatively, you may connect a USB cable and then convert it to wireless. Refer to - Changing from a USB to a Wireless Connection

Keep me posted.

I finally had time to get back to this troubleshooting.

I connected the printer to my router via ethernet and followed the instructions from the link you provided. Everything is once again working, yay!

Should I now just leave the printer connected by ethernet or can I disconnect it and still have my printer working?

Thank you so much for your help!

Cindy

Did you use an ethernet cable or a USB cable?

If you used a USB cable and followed the steps to convert it to wireless, you may remove the cable and print.
