Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.

Hello,

I am reaching out regarding my HP 7005 printer. While I am generally satisfied with the print quality, I am experiencing persistent connectivity issues.

Problem Description: The printer frequently loses its connection to the internet/Wi-Fi. Every time I want to print, I have to physically go to the printer and manually reconnect it or press buttons on the control panel to wake up the connection. This is particularly problematic as I am using the Instant Ink service, which requires a stable connection to function properly.

Hi @Sachille

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for sharing the details. Let’s work together to stabilize the wireless connection on your HP 7005 printer so you can enjoy uninterrupted printing and Instant Ink functionality.

Below are clear steps you can follow:

Step 1: Restart Devices

  1. Power off your printer, wireless router, and computer.
  2. Wait about 60 seconds.
  3. Power them back on, starting with the router, then the printer, and finally the computer.

This refreshes the network and clears temporary glitches.

Step 2: Verify Printer Network Settings

  1. On the printer control panel, open Wireless Settings.
  2. Confirm the printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network (same SSID as your computer).
  3. Ensure the signal strength is strong. If the printer is far from the router, consider moving it closer.

Step 3: Assign a Manual IP Address

  1. On the printer control panel, go to Network SettingsAdvanced SettingsIP Settings.
  2. Switch from Automatic (DHCP) to Manual.
  3. Enter an IP address within your router’s range but outside its automatic assignment pool (for example, if your router assigns 192.168.1.2–192.168.1.100, choose 192.168.1.200).
  4. Save the settings and restart the printer.

This prevents the printer from losing its IP when the router refreshes connections.

Step 4: Update Printer Firmware

  1. On the printer control panel, navigate to SettingsPrinter MaintenanceUpdate Printer.
  2. Allow the printer to check and install any available updates.

Firmware updates often improve connectivity stability.

Step 5: Configure Power Settings

  1. On the printer control panel, go to SettingsPreferencesPower Management.
  2. Disable or adjust any “Auto-Off” or “Sleep Mode” settings that may disconnect the printer from Wi-Fi.

This ensures the printer stays online for Instant Ink and remote printing.

Step 6: Reinstall the Printer in HP App

  1. On your Windows computer, open the HP App.
  2. Remove the printer from the app.
  3. Add the printer again by selecting Set up a new printer and following the on-screen instructions.

This refreshes the connection between the printer and the app.

By following these steps, your printer should maintain a steady Wi-Fi connection without requiring manual reconnection each time.
