@TomWish, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Reconnecting HP 7858 Printer to a Router!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
If your HP 7858 printer has suddenly lost connection to your router and is out of warranty, you can try the following steps to reconnect it to your Wi-Fi network. Below are methods to reconnect both touchscreen and non-touchscreen printers to a wireless network.
For Printers with a Touchscreen
- Place the printer near the network router.
- Make sure paper is loaded into the input tray, and then turn on the printer.
- From the Wireless or Setup menu on the printer's touchscreen, select Network setup or Settings.
- Select Restore Network Settings.
- Get the network name and password. Find the wireless network password or PIN to connect an HP printer.
- From the Setup, Network, or Wireless settings menu, select Wireless Setup Wizard.
- Select your network, and then enter the password.
Note: If the Wireless Setup Wizard is not listed, select Wi-Fi Protected Setup or WPS, select Push Button, and then follow the steps to connect to the network.
For Printers without a Touchscreen
Using Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS):
- Place the printer near the Wi-Fi router.
- Put the printer in Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) mode.
- Printers without a touchscreen control panel: On the control panel, press and hold the Wi-Fi button for 5 seconds until the light starts flashing.
- HP DeskJet 6000, 6400, ENVY 6000, 6400, and Tango printers: Press and hold the Wi-Fi and Power buttons on the back of the printer for 3 seconds until the Edge or Wireless light starts flashing.
- Within two minutes, press and hold the WPS button on the router until the connection process begins. The printer's wireless light or bar should stop flashing, indicating the printer is now connected to the network.
- Once connected, you can add the printer to the HP Smart app. For more information, go to the HP printer setup (HP Smart app).
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
