Hi @david1919,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I understand that you are facing connectivity issues. I’d like to help!

Make sure, your printer and your device are on the same network as 2.4GHZ only.

If your HP Smart Tank 5100 printer is visible on your network and recognized by your Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, and MacBook Air running macOS 12.0 Monterey) but will not print, follow these steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Ensure Printer is Connected to the Same Network

Make sure that your printer and all your Apple devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

2. Update Printer Firmware

Ensure your printer firmware is up to date.

  1. From the printer's control panel, go to Settings or Setup.
  2. Look for an option like Printer Maintenance or Update.
  3. Check for firmware updates and install any available updates.

3. Restart Devices

Restart your printer, router, and Apple devices.

  1. Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Turn off your router and unplug it for about 30 seconds.
  3. Restart your iPhone, iPad, and MacBook Air.
  4. Plug in and turn on your router.
  5. Plug in and turn on your printer.

4. Check Printer Settings on MacBook Air

Ensure that your MacBook Air is configured correctly to print to the HP Smart Tank 5100.

  1. Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  2. Select your HP Smart Tank 5100 printer from the list.
  3. Click on Options & Supplies and then Utility.
  4. Click on Open Printer Utility and make sure the printer status is online and there are no errors.

5. Reset Printing System on MacBook Air

If there are any issues with the printer configuration, resetting the printing system can help.

  1. Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  2. Right-click (or Control-click) on the printer list and select Reset printing system.
  3. Confirm the reset.
  4. Re-add your HP Smart Tank 5100 printer by clicking the + button and following the prompts.

Kindly check the next set of steps in the next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
