HP OfficeJet 9012 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I need to unlock what I locked when I first bought this printer.  Message on the printer's control panel for the features that I locked: "This feature has been locked by the person who set up the printer."  Even the control panel feature to reset the network settings has been locked.  [I was in an area where extra security seemed to be necessary.]  The printer: HP OfficeJet 9012 All-in-One.  Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit).

Thanks ahead of time!

Hi @mtridenhour,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Printer. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

We have to perform a Semi Full Reset to unlock the features of the printer/Reset the password.

The reset instructions are specific to your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.

I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.

In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Community profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted. -

I am having the same issue; although, I don’t ever recall locking any features when I first setup the printer, but anything is possible. The only difference is that I have an HP OfficeJet 6978, which I’ve had about a year now, & generally only use it with IOS and the smart app. I tried to reset the printer through web services online, but now it shows the WiFi is turned off & of course I can’t turn it on to connect it to Wi-Fi because of that same message. All I’d like to do now is to completely reset the entire printer so it’s like the first day I took it out of the box. Please help ASAP.
