HP LaserJet Pro 200 color Printer M251nw
Microsoft Windows 11

had power surge and turned off printer.  Have now rebooted and printer is on but not printing.  Did the disconnect from the actual printer and the battery backup I had the power plugged into waited 60 sec.  Then replugged everything back in by way of the battery back up first and then plugged back into the printer.  Held button for a few seconds when turning back on.  Im connected wirelessely.  Even removed printer program from control panel on laptop.  Went to reinstall and it isn't finding it.  Have been on the printer menu in wireless set up wizzard and punched in wifi password to get it to recognize it.  Won't work.  Tried to manually install and did a windows update on my computer so more HP options would show but my make/model isn't in the drop down menu.     Jeez  how hard is it to get someone from HP tech support?

Hi @Redfish5

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.

It sounds like you’re dealing with a frustrating situation with your HP LaserJet Pro 200 after the power surge. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to get your printer back online:

Check Printer Status: Make sure the printer is powered on and does not have any error messages or warning lights. Check for paper jams or other mechanical issues.

Reconnect to Wi-Fi:

  • Since the wireless connection seems to be a problem, try re-establishing the connection. On the printer’s control panel, navigate to Wireless or Network Settings.
  • Use the Wireless Setup Wizard to select your Wi-Fi network and enter the password again. Ensure that you're entering the password correctly, paying attention to case sensitivity.

Print Network Configuration Page:

  • Print a network configuration page from the printer menu to check its current network settings. This can help confirm whether it’s connected to your Wi-Fi network and what IP address it's using.

Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Go to the HP Support website and download the latest drivers for the M251nw model. Make sure to select drivers compatible with Windows 11.
  • After downloading, install the drivers and try adding the printer again through Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners on your Windows 11 PC.

Use the HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool. This tool can help diagnose and fix printing and connectivity issues automatically.

Firewall/Antivirus Check:

  • Ensure that your firewall or antivirus software is not blocking the printer. You may need to temporarily disable them to test the connection.

Connect via USB:

  • If wireless connection continues to fail, try connecting the printer directly to your computer using a USB cable. This can help rule out any network issues.

Reset the Printer:

  • If all else fails, perform a factory reset on the printer. This option is typically found in the printer settings menu under Reset Settings or Restore Factory Defaults.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Please click “Accepted Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.
