@RM75182, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

It sounds frustrating when your printer won't connect to your Wi-Fi, especially when all your other devices are working fine. I'm here to help you get your HP DeskJet 4255e All-in-One Printer back online.

Here are some steps we can take to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

Restore Wi-Fi Setup Mode on the Printer

If your printer was previously connected to another network or setup attempt failed, you may need to reset the Wi-Fi setup mode:

  • Press and hold the Wireless button and the Cancel button on the printer for 5 seconds until the Power light blinks.
  • This restores the printer to Wi-Fi setup mode, allowing it to be discovered by the HP Smart app.

Use the HP Smart App for Setup

  • Download and install the HP Smart app on your Windows 10 PC or mobile device.
  • Open the app and click “+” to add a new printer.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.

Ensure Printer is Within Range

  • Place the printer within 8 meters (26 feet) of your Wi-Fi router.
  • Avoid placing it near microwaves, cordless phones, or thick walls that may interfere with the signal.

Check Wi-Fi Band Compatibility

  • The HP DeskJet 4255e supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only.
  • Ensure your router is broadcasting a 2.4 GHz signal (not just 5 GHz).
  • You may need to log in to your router settings to verify or enable the 2.4 GHz band.

Restart All Devices

  • Turn off your printer, router, and computer.
  • Wait 30 seconds, then power them back on in this order: Router → Printer → Computer.

If the printer still doesn’t detect your Wi-Fi:

  • Try connecting it via USB temporarily and then use the HP Smart app to switch to wireless.
  • Check for firmware updates via the HP Smart app or HP Software & Drivers page.
