Hi @Zoe030,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're unable to connect your HP LaserJet printer to your PC and it's not appearing on the list of scanners, here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Check Physical Connections:

  • Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your PC via a USB cable or a network connection (if it's a network printer).
  • Make sure the printer is powered on and has paper and ink/toner.

Install Printer Drivers:

  • Ensure you have the correct printer drivers installed on your PC. You can usually find these drivers on the HP website.
  • Download and install the latest driver software for your specific model of HP LaserJet printer.

Restart Printer and PC:

  • Try restarting both your printer and your computer. Sometimes, a simple reboot can resolve connection issues.

Check Network Connection (If applicable):

  • If your printer is a network printer, make sure it's connected to the same network as your PC.
  • Confirm that the printer's IP address is correctly configured.

Enable Printer Sharing (If sharing on a network):

  • If you are trying to connect to a network printer, ensure that printer sharing is enabled on the computer to which the printer is physically connected.

Add Printer Manually:

  • If your printer isn't automatically detected, you can try adding it manually. To do this, go to your PC's settings, find the "Devices" or "Printers & Scanners" section, and select "Add a printer or scanner." Follow the prompts to manually add your printer using its IP address or hostname.

Update Windows/MacOS:

  • Ensure your operating system is up-to-date. Sometimes, updating your OS can resolve compatibility issues.

Firewall/Antivirus Settings:

  • Check your firewall or antivirus software settings to ensure they are not blocking communication with the printer.

Check for Error Messages:

  • If there are any error messages on your printer's display, take note of them. These can often provide clues as to what the issue may be.

HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • HP provides a free tool called "HP Print and Scan Doctor" that can help diagnose and resolve printing issues. You can download it from the HP website and follow its instructions.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
