Hi @DanoDano1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I understand that you are having issues with the wifi connectivity.

Make sure, your printer and your device are on the same network as 2.4GHZ only.

I understand your HP LaserJet MFP M140 Printer is not connecting to WiFi, there are several troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue:

1. Restart Your Devices

  • Restart the Printer: Turn off your printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 60 seconds, and then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Restart the Router: Turn off your router, wait for about 60 seconds, and then turn it back on.
  • Restart Your Computer: If you are using a computer to set up the printer, restart it as well.

2. Check Printer and WiFi Settings

  • Ensure WiFi is On: Make sure the WiFi is enabled on your printer. Most HP printers have a wireless icon or button that you can press to turn WiFi on.
  • Verify WiFi Network: Ensure that the printer is trying to connect to the correct WiFi network. It should be the same network that your computer or mobile device is connected to.
  • Check Network Password: Make sure that you are entering the correct WiFi password during the setup.

3. Re-establish WiFi Connection on Printer

  • Reset the Network Settings: You can reset the printer’s network settings to clear any previous connections and start fresh.
    • On the Printer: Look for a Wireless or Network menu, and select "Restore Network Settings" or "Restore Network Defaults." This option may vary based on your printer model.
  • Use the HP Smart App: Download and open the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device, then follow the steps to reconnect the printer to your WiFi network.

4. Update Printer Firmware; Click here

  • Ensure that your printer firmware is up to date. Outdated firmware can sometimes cause connectivity issues.
    • Using the HP Smart App: Open the HP Smart app, select your printer, and check for any available firmware updates.

5. Check Wireless Network Requirements

  • WiFi Band: Make sure your printer is connecting to a 2.4 GHz network if it does not support 5 GHz.
  • Proximity: Ensure the printer is within range of the WiFi router and there are no physical obstructions or interference from other electronic devices.

6. Advanced Network Troubleshooting

  • Reconfigure the Printer’s IP Address: Sometimes manually setting the IP address can help. You can assign a static IP address to the printer through the router settings.
  • Check Router Settings: Ensure that your router is not blocking the printer. You can check if the MAC address of the printer is allowed through the router settings.

7. Perform a Power Cycle

  • Power Cycle Your Network: Turn off all devices connected to your network (printers, computers, smartphones, and router). Wait for a couple of minutes before turning the router back on first, followed by the printer and other devices.

8. Reinstall Printer Software

  • If all else fails, try uninstalling the printer software from your computer and then reinstalling it. This can sometimes resolve any software conflicts causing the connection issue. Click here

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
