Just a short note thanking you for your help in getting to a solution for my problem.

I have a felling that my last post may have given the opinion that my problem is solved. That is not the case.

I should have said, thanking you for your help in trying to help in getting a solution to the problem..

Here's another thought for a possible solution. The printer has a USB port to upload photos and other documents to the printer. Can this port be used to upload a fix to the control panel setup and WIFI settings.

Here's another possibility. I have a remote DVDCD unit attached to my laptop by USB. Could HP give me an executable file that I could open from the DVDCD and do the fix myself.

I don't see a private message icon upper right corner. Calling HP support is problematic since the printer warrantee has run out

I finally got the first message. Now there are two but can't open them now after I was able to read first one. Is this a once opened they are blocked .

Anyway, I went to the highlighted URL in your message clicked on it and came to a blank screen. I then input it manually {https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact.].  Same results blank screen.

I want to thank you personally for all of the time you put in attempting to resolve my disabled printer wifi problem. Was able to get to the HP CARE Smart Friend site. It took a few hours, but the final result is I now have a WiFi printer.

Thank you again fo your help and support.

One of the things that came out when the HP smart friend was clearing the disabled wifi was using the back arrow in the control panel. I remember some of the posts on this site mentioned pushing the back arrow four times. That didn't work because as soon as you push the back arrow it disappears.

Here's the trick for this to work and it does. while in the home screen you need to remember the position of the back arrow. Press home and you will come to the screen with the ? mark. remembering where that back arrow was press there 3 times quickly. You will hear the clicks.

You will then be able to scroll down in the menus to reset factory defaults. After pressing that choice you will then get a choice of the level of reset. the reset takes a while, at least 30 minutes. Once this was done and I unplugged the printer, waited 30 seconds and plugged back in and the WiFi radio light came back on.  We were then able to setup the WiFi.

Hope this info will help others in the future.
