Hi @Raqui2,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I completely understand how upsetting this can feel. One moment, everything is working smoothly, then you switch internet providers and suddenly every print job ends in “Error – Printing.” It really can feel like your printer is right there… but no longer recognizes you. Please don’t worry, you haven’t done anything wrong, and this is a very common situation after a Wi-Fi change. The printer is still trying to connect to the old Wi-Fi network, so it simply needs to be reconnected to the new one. Let’s go through this calmly and step by step. You’ll be printing again soon.

Recommended Fix: Reconnect the Printer to the New Wi-Fi Network

1. Restart Everything (Resets communication)

This helps clear temporary connection confusion.

  1. Turn OFF the printer
  2. Turn OFF your computer or phone
  3. Unplug the router for 20 seconds, then plug it back in
  4. Turn the printer ON
  5. Turn your computer/phone ON

Sometimes this fresh “handshake” is all it takes.

2. Reset the Printer’s Network Settings

This removes the old Wi-Fi details stored in the printer.

  1. On the printer, press and hold the Cancel (X) + Wireless (📶) buttons together
  2. Hold for 5 seconds until the blue light starts blinking

This means the printer is ready to connect to a new network.

3. Reconnect Using HP Smart (Recommended)

  1. Open the HP Smart app on your computer or phone
  2. Click Add Printer or Set Up a New Printer
  3. Select your new Wi-Fi network
  4. Enter the new Wi-Fi password and complete setup

Make sure your device is connected to the same Wi-Fi network you want the printer to use.

4. Remove Old Printer Copy (Important on Windows)

Sometimes Windows keeps an old, offline printer profile.

  1. Go to Settings > Printers & Scanners
  2. Remove all entries for the HP printer
  3. Reopen HP Smart and add the printer again

This ensures your computer talks to the correct printer connection.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
