My laserjet M14-M17 printer isn't working. I get the message: "The printer is offline." The other day, someone from HP who I now learn is a sub-contractor hired by HP to deal with customer problems (my printer is off warranty) said my drive was corrupt and he had to install a new system drive. I decided to speak to a tech person from Apple instead, who said my driver isn't corrupt and the printer problem appears to be wireless-connected. Today, I spoke to someone else from HP's contractors who tried to talk me into purchasing an expensive plan (one-time "fix" would be just under $300—I could buy a new printer for about half that!) to up to over $1K for a lifetime package. He said the problem is my IP address and he needs to clean it. I declined his offer, shut down his access to my screen, and he hung up. This has got to be a SCAM! Now what do I do? TIA!

Welcome to the HP support community.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Community's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Community.
