macOS 12.0 Monterey

My printer is showing connected to my wi-fi with excellent strength.  My computer is also connected to the same wi-fi.  However, when I go to print, the computer says that the printer is off-line.  Help!

Hi @Sharonmusic,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds frustrating when your printer and computer don’t seem to sync up. Here are some steps to troubleshoot the "printer offline" issue with your HP ENVY 5530.

Check Printer Status:

  • Ensure the printer is powered on and has no error messages or blinking lights.

Restart Devices:

  • Restart your HP ENVY 5530 printer.
  • Restart your computer.

Check Printer Connection:

  • Verify that the printer is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your computer.
  • Print a network configuration page from your printer to confirm the Wi-Fi connection.

Set Printer as Default:

  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers on your computer.
  • Right-click on your HP ENVY 5530 and select Set as default printer.

Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Visit the HP support website to download and install the latest drivers for your HP ENVY 5530.
  • You might also want to remove the printer from your list of devices and add it again.

Check Printer Queue:

  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click on your printer and select See what's printing.
  • Clear any pending print jobs and try printing again.

Reset Printer Network Settings:

  • On your printer, go to Setup > Network > Restore Network Settings.
  • Reconnect to your Wi-Fi network.

Check Printer’s IP Address:

  • Ensure that the IP address of the printer matches what is set in the printer settings on your computer.
  • You can check the IP address on the printer’s network configuration page.

Firewall/Security Software:

  • Check if any firewall or security software on your computer is blocking communication with the printer.

Printer Troubleshooter (Windows):

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Printer and run the troubleshooter.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
