Hi @jeffba3,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

If your MacBook Pro with the M3 Pro chip is not connecting to your HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 for printing or scanning, you can try the following troubleshooting steps:

1. Check Network Connection

  • Ensure that both your MacBook Pro and the HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • You can verify your Mac’s Wi-Fi connection by clicking on the Wi-Fi icon in the menu bar.

2. Restart Devices

  • Restart both your MacBook Pro and your HP OfficeJet Pro 8600. This can resolve temporary connectivity issues.

3. Update macOS

  • Make sure your MacBook Pro is running the latest version of macOS. Go to System Preferences > Software Update to check for updates.

4. Install or Update HP Drivers

  • Go to the HP support website and download the latest drivers for your HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 that are compatible with your macOS version.
  • Install the drivers and restart your Mac.

5. Add Printer in System Preferences

  • Open System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  • Click the + button to add a printer.
  • If your printer appears in the list, select it and click Add. If it doesn’t appear, ensure that the printer is powered on and connected to the network.

Please find the remaining steps in the next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @jeffba3,

Please find the next steps below.

6. Reset Printing System

  • If the printer still does not appear, you can try resetting the printing system:
    • Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
    • Right-click (or Ctrl-click) in the Printers list and select Reset printing system.
    • Confirm the reset and then add your printer again.

7. Check Firewall Settings

  • Go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Firewall.
  • Make sure that the firewall is not blocking connections to the printer. You can temporarily disable the firewall to test if it resolves the issue.

8. Use HP Smart App

  • Download and install the HP Smart app from the Mac App Store. This app can help you set up and manage your printer.
  • Follow the app’s instructions to connect to your printer.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the connectivity issues between your MacBook Pro and HP OfficeJet Pro 8600.

If the issue persists, consider contacting HP Phone Support for further assistance, as there may be a specific compatibility

issue or hardware problem.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
