My hp laptop can't connect with my HP Envy 6200 by wifi. They are on same network . Can print from phone using wifi. I've tried to troubleshoot with HP support app but laptop still doesn't connect to printer by wifi. It does work if I connect with USB directly.

Hi @slemmo ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with your HP ENVY 5055 printer is having trouble connecting to your HP laptop via Wi-Fi, despite both devices being on the same network. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
1. Restart Devices and Network
- Restart your laptop, printer, and router to clear any network glitches.
- Ensure the Wi-Fi network is working properly by connecting another device, like your phone, to the Wi-Fi.
2. Check Printer's Wi-Fi Status
- On the printer's control panel, press the Wi-Fi icon or go to the Settings menu and check if the printer is connected to the Wi-Fi network. If not, reconnect it using the printer’s setup menu or HP Smart app.
- You can also print a network configuration page from the printer to check its connection status.
3. Update Printer Drivers
- Ensure you have the latest drivers for the HP ENVY 5055 installed on your laptop:
- Go to the HP Support website.
- Search for your printer model and download the latest drivers for Windows 11.
- Install the drivers and try reconnecting to the printer.
4. Reconfigure Printer via HP Smart App
- Open the HP Smart app on your laptop.
- If the printer isn't listed, click the + sign to add a new printer.
- Follow the prompts to reconnect your printer to the Wi-Fi network.
5. Check Windows 11 Printer Settings
- Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners on your laptop.
- Check if your printer is listed. If it is, click on it and select Manage.
- Choose Set as Default if it's not already selected.
6. Disable VPN and Firewall
- If you have any VPN or firewall running on your laptop, temporarily disable them to see if they are blocking the connection to the printer.
7. Use the Printer's IP Address
- If the printer still won’t connect, you can try adding it manually using its IP address:
- On the network configuration page (from step 2), note the printer’s IP address.
- On your laptop, go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners.
- Click Add a printer or scanner.
- Select The printer that I want isn't listed.
- Choose Add a printer using TCP/IP address or hostname and enter the printer's IP address.

I hope this helps.
