Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My  HP DeskJet 2800e is connected to HP Direct WiFi. I'm trying to print from my cell phone. Both are connected to the same WiFi network. When I click on the print preview, all it does is buffer. It's been buffering for over 30 minutes. Can someone tell me why?

Hi @timbo6723,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Here are some possible causes:
Weak Wi-Fi Connection – HP Direct WiFi may have a weak or unstable signal.

App Issue – The HP Smart app might be lagging or need an update.

Printer Spooler Issue – The print job might be stuck in the queue.

Network Interference – If your router has multiple bands (2.4GHz and 5GHz), the printer and phone may not be on the same exact frequency.

Try these steps to fix the issue:

Restart Everything

  • Turn off the printer, phone, and Wi-Fi router.
  • Wait 30 seconds, then turn them back on.
  • Try printing again.

Switch to Standard Wi-Fi (Not HP Direct Wi-Fi)

  • Instead of using HP Direct Wi-Fi, connect both the printer and phone to the same standard home Wi-Fi network.
  • Open the HP Smart App, and try printing again.

Clear Printer Queue in HP Smart App

  • Open the HP Smart App on your phone.
  • Go to Print Queue or Recent Jobs and cancel any stuck jobs.
  • Restart the app and try printing again.

Reinstall HP Smart App

  • Uninstall the HP Smart App from your phone.
  • Reinstall it from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
  • Reconnect the printer and try printing again.

Check for Printer Firmware Updates

  • Open the HP Smart App → Select your printer → Go to Printer Settings → Check for Firmware Updates.
  • If an update is available, install it and restart the printer.

Let me know if you need more help! 😊
