@msmelwolf, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If your DeskJet 4100 is having trouble connecting to your computer, there are a few steps you can take to check the Wi-Fi network settings and resolve the issue.

Step-by-Step Process:

Access the Printer's Control Panel:

  • To find out what Wi-Fi network your printer is connected to, you will need to access the printer's control panel.
  • Use the control panel to print a "Network Configuration Report" or a "Wireless Test Report" if your printer supports it. This report typically displays the current SSID (network name) the printer is connected to.

Print a Network Configuration Report:

  • This can often be done by holding down the wireless and cancel buttons on your printer's control panel for about three seconds. Check your user manual for exact buttons, as it can vary slightly by model.
  • Review the report to see which network the printer is currently attempting to use.

Check Network Settings:

  • Ensure that your printer is connected to the same network that your computer is using. Compare the SSID on the network report to your current network on the computer.

Reconnect the Printer to the Network:

  • If the printer is not connected to the correct network, you may need to reconnect it. This can be done through the HP Smart app or the printer's built-in wireless setup wizard.
  • Using HP Smart App:
    • Install the HP Smart app from the Microsoft Store if not already installed.
    • Open the HP Smart app and follow on-screen instructions to add or reconnect your printer.
  • Using Printer’s Wi-Fi Wizard:
    • Access the Wi-Fi setup from the printer’s control panel.
    • Select your network from the list and enter the password if prompted.

Verify Connection:

  • Once you have reconnected the printer to the correct network, try printing a test page from your computer to ensure that the connection is working properly.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
