email address for 7955e

Hi,  I can not find how to get an email address for my Inspire 7955e printer.  I saw the post on 11/2/23 with the same question. I followed the instructions, but didn't have all the "tittles".

I didn't have a option to set up and email address when i installed the printer. I'm using Windows 10 ..Microsoft Office 64 bit 365..on a PC.

On the control panel of the printer...

I went to SETTINGS  and then NETWORK..there is no WEB SERVICES.

I went to PRINT CONFIGURATION PAGE and it shows WS DISCOVERY is ENABLED...WS PRINT is enabled...and SCAN IS ENABLED

The page also show an IP address

The HP printer program on my computer does not have any where to see or change an email address.

The printer will print and scan from the computer wirelessly,

My old printer (envy 5661) has an email address that was convenient when i needed to print an email attachment

There is a way the printer can be assigned a Email Address though it might not be in the way you expect.

The printer, because of its model type, is eligible for a service called HP+

If you accept the service requirements and your responsibilities for HP+

and

If you enable the HP+ service contract,

You can set up and use "Print Anywhere"

What?

Print Anywhere is the replacement for ePrint.

Although the sending requirements are not as limited in some ways as the ePrint format, Print Anywhere is (must be) used from within HP Smart.

Requirements for HP+ printers

This topic describes the requirements for HP+ printers.

Keep the printer connected to the Internet

HP+ printers are cloud-connected devices that must remain connected to the Internet in order to function. The
Internet connection enables the printer to deliver HP+ specific app features and firmware updates.

During setup, you must connect the printer to the Internet using a supported network connection. After setup,
you can print using a USB cable connection, if desired, but the printer must still be connected to the Internet.

Use Original HP cartridges

Original HP cartridges are cartridges manufactured and sold by HP in official HP packaging. If non-Original HP
supplies or refilled cartridges are installed, HP+ printers will not operate as expected.

Have an HP account

Create or sign into an HP account to manage your printer.

That you for the very informative  reply.  I opted out of HP+ because  I thought there was a charge for it.  Am I correct that there is no charge for HP+.  The charge is for a printer ink subscription??

You are most welcome.

There is no charge for enabling HP+ .

That said, remember -- There are two key factors that might influence your choice -

1. The printer is added to a service and security monitoring  service -- the printer must remain connected to the Internet.  Should the printer disconnect for any extended amount of time, the printer will no longer print. 
2. The printer must be fed genuine HP ink cartridges -- No nasty refills or re-manufactured cartridges with an HP chip. 

In exchange, you have access to HP+ Support, an extra year of hardware warranty is added, and you are provided access to additional features on the printer, including Print Anywhere and Smart Advance (upgraded scan options).

I don't care about either one of these --

My confidence in the printer and my network means I expect the printer to remain connected.  Should there be an actual problem in that arena, I likely have other (worse) problems.  I also don't care whether HP monitors the printer mechanics - the data collection is anonymous and does not include any information HP does not already know about my equipment.

I have never, in all my years owning many printers, used anything other than new HP ink cartridges in any printer.  Requiring me to continue that practice is a non-event.

Primarily, I wanted access to the extra features for training purposes.  I retired my 9025 after five years of excellent service to move into the new tech and be able to help other members with its use.

It's all about choice.

How long is too long to be disconnected from the Internet?

I don't know - and, for the moment at least, I've not found this amount of detail in the HP+ website, either.

I would hope that once connection to the Internet is reestablished, the connection requirement for HP+ would heal itself.

Caveat

Keep in mind that in this instance, HP+ requiring the printer to be connected to the Internet does NOT have anything to do with losing connection to HP Instant Ink -

What?

Although HP+ certainly offers Instant Ink as part of it's presumed benefits, Instant Ink is optional AND it is a separate contract and service.  Instant Ink is a different animal and follows its own rules.

My Suggestion:

Contact HP+ Support > ask about the consequences of losing connection for an extended time.
