Hi @dick1956

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand you're unable to access your HP DeskJet 2910 All-in-One Printer because you've forgotten the password. We'll be glad to help, but I'd like to gather a few details first so we can understand the situation correctly.

Could you please share:

Which password have you forgotten?

  • The printer's Wi-Fi Direct password?
  • The Embedded Web Server (printer settings page) password?
  • Your HP account password?
  • The Wi-Fi network password that the printer is connected to?

Are you trying to connect the printer from:

  • A Windows PC
  • A Mac
  • A smartphone or tablet

What happens when you enter the password?

  • It says the password is incorrect?
  • You do not know the password at all?
  • The printer is asking for a password unexpectedly?

Is the printer currently connected to your Wi-Fi network, or is it showing as offline?

Please share these details, and we'll guide you with the most appropriate steps.

We're looking forward to helping you get back up and running!

Regards,

Hawks_Eye

Thank you for the update.

Since you've forgotten the Wi‑Fi password, if your wireless router has a WPS (Wi‑Fi Protected Setup) button, you can connect the printer without entering the Wi‑Fi password.

  1. Make sure the printer is powered on and placed near the wireless router.
  2. Put the printer into WPS mode:
    • On printers with a touchscreen: Open Setup > Network/Wireless Settings > Wi‑Fi Protected Setup (WPS) > Push Button > Start.
    • On printers without a touchscreen: Press and hold the Wireless button until the wireless light starts blinking. For some models, press and hold the Wi‑Fi and Power buttons together for about 3 seconds until the wireless light begins flashing.
  3. Within 2 minutes, press and hold the WPS button on your wireless router for 3 to 5 seconds until the router begins the connection process.
  4. Wait for the printer's wireless light to stop blinking and remain steady, indicating that the printer is connected to the network.

If you're not sure whether your router has a WPS button, please let us know the router make/model and we'll guide you further.
