Hi @Robert5197,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M281fdw is printing photos with a blue hue while documents print normally. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Print a Print Quality Diagnostic page
From the printer control panel, go to Reports > Print Quality Page.
This helps confirm whether all colors (cyan, magenta, yellow, black) are printing correctly at the hardware level.

Check color balance and calibration
On the printer control panel, go to System Setup > Print Quality > Color Calibration and run a full calibration.
Incorrect calibration often causes color casts like blue tones in photos.

Inspect cyan toner output
Since a blue hue usually indicates excess cyan or weak yellow/magenta, closely review those sections on the diagnostic page.
If yellow or magenta looks faint, photos may appear bluish even if text prints fine.

Redistribute the toner cartridges
Remove the cyan, magenta, and yellow cartridges and gently rock each one side to side.
This evens out toner that may have settled and improves color accuracy.

Check photo print settings
When printing photos, open Printer Properties and confirm Color is selected.
Disable options like Economode, Reduced Color, or Color Correction overrides, which can affect photo tones.

Try printing from a different application
Print the same photo from another app (for example, Windows Photos instead of a browser).
This helps rule out application-specific color management issues.

Verify paper type selection
Ensure the paper type in print settings matches what you are using (plain vs photo paper).
Incorrect paper selection can cause color shifts, especially in photos.

Clean the printer using the Clean Page option
From System Setup > Service > Cleaning Page, run the cleaning process.
This removes toner residue that can affect color balance.

I hope this helps.
