Can you help me connect my hp deskjet f4580 to my wifi modem.  The wireless button on the printer is flashing blue.  This printer is old and I don't have any of the info or materials it came with.

@LMK10, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Sure, I can help you with that! The flashing blue wireless button on your HP Deskjet F4580 indicates that the printer is not connected to the network. Here are the steps to connect your printer to your Wi-Fi modem:

Method 1: Using the Wireless Setup Wizard

  1. Power on your printer: Ensure it’s switched on and ready to receive instructions.
  2. Access the printer’s control panel: Locate the “Wireless” or “Wi-Fi” button on your printer’s control panel. Press it to initiate the wireless setup process.
  3. Select your wireless network: The printer will scan for available networks. Choose your home or office network from the list displayed on the screen.
  4. Enter your network password: The printer will prompt you to enter the password for your wireless network. Carefully type in the password and confirm your selection.
  5. Complete the setup: Follow the on-screen instructions to finalize the wireless connection. Your printer should now be connected to your network.

Method 2: Connecting via the HP Smart App

  1. Download the HP Smart app: This free app is available for both iOS and Android devices. Search for “HP Smart” in your app store and download it.
  2. Open the app and select “Add a printer”: The app will guide you through the setup process.
  3. Connect your printer to your network: Follow the app’s instructions to connect your printer to your wireless network.

If you encounter any issues, you can try resetting the network settings by pressing and holding the Wireless button and the Resume button together for three seconds.
