I can run diagnose and fix from HP Smart and printer works for awhile, then goes OFFL when attempting to print from Word or Excel, how ever HP Smart shows the Printer as Ready.

Hi @sharonboss,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The issue you're experiencing with your HP DeskJet 2755e printer going offline could be caused by various factors such as a miscommunication between your printer and computer, network issues, or driver conflicts. Since you're using HP Smart to diagnose and fix the issue temporarily, here are some additional steps to ensure a more permanent resolution.
Set the Printer as Default
- Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
- Right-click your HP 2755e printer and select Set as default printer.
- Ensure the status shows as "Ready" or "Default".
Disable 'Use Printer Offline' Mode
- In the Devices and Printers section, right-click your printer and select See what's printing.
- In the window that opens, click Printer in the top menu and ensure Use Printer Offline is unchecked.
Update Printer Drivers
- Open the Device Manager from the Start menu.
- Expand Printers or Print queues.
- Right-click your HP DeskJet 2755e and choose Update driver.
- Select Search automatically for updated driver software.
Alternatively, visit the HP Support website to download and install the latest drivers for your model.
Ensure Stable Network Connection
- Ensure that both your printer and computer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Restart your router to refresh the connection.
- Assign a static IP address to the printer:
- Access the printer’s IP address by printing a Network Configuration Page from the printer's control panel.
- Log into your router and assign the printer a static IP in the DHCP settings.
Check Printer Queue
- Clear any stuck print jobs by opening See what's printing and canceling all pending documents.
- Try printing a test page after clearing the queue.
Run Windows Troubleshooter
- Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
- Scroll to Printer and run the troubleshooter.

Reinstall the Printer
- Remove the printer:
- Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
- Right-click your printer and select Remove device.
- Reinstall the printer:
- Use the HP Smart app or the Add a printer or scanner option in Settings > Devices.
Update HP Smart
- Ensure the HP Smart app is up to date. Sometimes, outdated apps can cause inconsistencies.
Use a USB Connection (Optional)
- If the wireless connection continues to cause issues, consider connecting the printer via USB as a troubleshooting step.
If the issue persists despite these steps, it could be due to a deeper network or compatibility issue.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
