Hi @sharonboss,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The issue you're experiencing with your HP DeskJet 2755e printer going offline could be caused by various factors such as a miscommunication between your printer and computer, network issues, or driver conflicts. Since you're using HP Smart to diagnose and fix the issue temporarily, here are some additional steps to ensure a more permanent resolution.

Set the Printer as Default

  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click your HP 2755e printer and select Set as default printer.
  • Ensure the status shows as "Ready" or "Default".

Disable 'Use Printer Offline' Mode

  • In the Devices and Printers section, right-click your printer and select See what's printing.
  • In the window that opens, click Printer in the top menu and ensure Use Printer Offline is unchecked.

Update Printer Drivers

  • Open the Device Manager from the Start menu.
  • Expand Printers or Print queues.
  • Right-click your HP DeskJet 2755e and choose Update driver.
  • Select Search automatically for updated driver software.

Alternatively, visit the HP Support website to download and install the latest drivers for your model.

Ensure Stable Network Connection

  • Ensure that both your printer and computer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • Restart your router to refresh the connection.
  • Assign a static IP address to the printer:
    • Access the printer’s IP address by printing a Network Configuration Page from the printer's control panel.
    • Log into your router and assign the printer a static IP in the DHCP settings.

Check Printer Queue

  • Clear any stuck print jobs by opening See what's printing and canceling all pending documents.
  • Try printing a test page after clearing the queue.

Run Windows Troubleshooter

  • Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
  • Scroll to Printer and run the troubleshooter.

Reinstall the Printer

  • Remove the printer:
    • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
    • Right-click your printer and select Remove device.
  • Reinstall the printer:
    • Use the HP Smart app or the Add a printer or scanner option in Settings > Devices.

Update HP Smart

  • Ensure the HP Smart app is up to date. Sometimes, outdated apps can cause inconsistencies.

Use a USB Connection (Optional)

  • If the wireless connection continues to cause issues, consider connecting the printer via USB as a troubleshooting step.

If the issue persists despite these steps, it could be due to a deeper network or compatibility issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
