Hi @EWW2080
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
If your HP 8138e printer is experiencing difficulties connecting to Wi-Fi, follow these steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
Check the Wi-Fi Network Connection:
- Ensure your printer is within range of your Wi-Fi router.
- Verify that your Wi-Fi network is functioning properly, and other devices can connect.
Ensure Wi-Fi is Enabled on the Printer:
- From the printer's control panel, check that the Wi-Fi light is on. If it's off or blinking, use the Wireless icon on the control panel to turn it on or reconnect.
Use the Wireless Setup Wizard:
- Navigate to the printer control panel and select the Wireless icon, then choose Settings followed by the Wireless Setup Wizard.
- Follow the instructions to select your network from the list and enter the Wi-Fi password.
Restart Your Devices:
- Restart both your printer and Wi-Fi router. This can resolve temporary network issues.
Check Network Settings:
- Confirm that the network settings on the printer are correct (SSID, password).
- If necessary, re-enter the network settings using the Wireless Setup Wizard.
Update Printer Firmware:
- Make sure your printer firmware is up to date. You can check for updates in the printer settings or via the HP Smart app.
Disable VPNs:
- If your computer or mobile device is connected to a VPN, disconnect it as it might interfere with the printer's ability to connect to the local network.
Reset Network Settings on Printer:
- You may need to restore the printer's network settings to factory defaults and try connecting again.
If you'd like, I can walk you through a tailored reconnection process based on your router type and current printer status. Just let me know whether the wireless light is blinking, solid, or off — and whether you’re using the
HP Smart app or trying to connect manually. We’ll get this sorted.
