Just setting up my new HP 9015e printer and it keeps saying the eithernet cable is not connected. it also says the wireless function has been disabled on the network configuration page? I tried restoring network defaults and reseting the printer with no luck... anyone have any ideas?

Hi @Laltherr,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thank you for reaching out about the issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e. We understand how important it is to get your printer connected and working properly.

The message indicating that the Ethernet cable is not connected, along with the wireless function being disabled, suggests that the printer might currently be configured to use a wired network connection but is not detecting an active Ethernet cable. Additionally, the wireless being disabled prevents the printer from connecting to Wi-Fi.

Please try the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Check Ethernet Cable
    • If you intend to use a wired connection, please ensure the Ethernet cable is firmly plugged into both the printer and your router or network switch. Try a different Ethernet cable if possible to rule out cable issues.
    • If you do not intend to use Ethernet, disconnect the Ethernet cable completely.

  2. Enable Wireless Network
    • On the printer control panel, go to Settings > Network Setup > Wireless Settings.
    • Make sure the Wireless option is turned ON.
    • If wireless is disabled, enable it and follow the prompts to connect your printer to your Wi-Fi network.

  3. Restore Network Defaults (you already tried this, but please ensure you follow the steps carefully):
    • Press the Wireless icon or go to Settings > Network Setup > Restore Network Defaults.
    • After restoring, restart the printer and try reconnecting to your Wi-Fi.

  4. Check Network Configuration Page
    • Print a network configuration report by pressing the Wireless button and Information button simultaneously (or via Settings > Reports).
    • Verify that the wireless radio is enabled and check the IP addresses assigned.

  5. Update Printer Firmware
    • Connect your printer temporarily via USB to a computer and run the HP Smart app or go to the HP support website to check for firmware updates.
    • Installing the latest firmware can resolve network connectivity issues.

  6. Restart Network Devices
    • Power off your modem/router for 60 seconds, then turn it back on.
    • Restart your printer and try connecting again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
