Hi @jeanieT
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP DeskJet 4100e printer's wireless radio is turned off and you're unable to use it, here are steps to troubleshoot and enable the wireless functionality:
1. Check Wireless Settings
Control Panel:
- On the printer's control panel, look for the Wireless button (it may look like a wireless signal icon).
- Press the button to turn the wireless radio back on. If the light is off, this should activate the wireless feature.
Menu Navigation:
- Use the control panel to navigate to Setup (gear icon) > Network or Wireless Settings.
- Look for an option to enable the wireless radio. Select it if it’s turned off.
2. Restart the Printer
- Turn off the printer, unplug it for about 60 seconds, and then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes reset the wireless radio.
3. Reset Network Settings
- You can reset the network settings to reconfigure the wireless connection:
- On the control panel, go to Setup > Network.
- Look for an option to Restore Network Defaults. Confirm this action.
4. Reconnect to Wi-Fi
- After resetting, you'll need to reconnect to your Wi-Fi network:
- On the control panel, navigate to Wireless Setup Wizard (under Network settings).
- Follow the prompts to select your Wi-Fi network and enter the password.
5. Use the HP Smart App
- Download the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device:
- Follow the app instructions to set up the printer and ensure it connects to your Wi-Fi.
6. Check Router Settings
- Ensure that your Wi-Fi router is functioning properly. Restart your router if needed.
- Check if there are any settings (like MAC filtering) that may prevent the printer from connecting.
7. Update Firmware
- Ensure your printer firmware is up to date. Visit the HP Support website for updates.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
