HP ENVY Photo 7855 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

my 7855 printer is stuck on the first dot on start up. It had been working fine for years and I came back from vacation and found it this way.  I have worked through all the self help measures - disconnecting, pressing power button, resetting router and nothing has helped.  The printer is 5 years old. Is there any help or is this printer ready for the graveyard?

Hi @worleymom,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP ENVY Photo 7855 All-In-One Printer is stuck on the first dot during startup and you've already tried basic troubleshooting steps without success, there are a few more things you can try:

Power Cycle:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 1-2 minutes to allow the printer to discharge any residual power.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Firmware Update:

  • Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer on the HP website.
  • If there is an update, follow the instructions to update the firmware.

Printer Reset:

  • Perform a semi-full or full reset of the printer. Be aware that this will reset all settings on your printer.
  • Instructions for a reset can usually be found in the printer's manual or on the HP website.

Check for Physical Issues:

  • Make sure there are no obstructions in the paper path or any visible damage to the printer components.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.-
